The Academy of Communications (AOC), The Academy of Information Technology (AOIT)
Description of Programs:
The Academy of Communications (AOC) is a four-year program designed to engage students in the communication field (i.e. traditional print, radio, television, Internet and "real time" digital mediums). Students will be part of a digital classroom in which they will learn to operate a TV studio, a recording studio and a radio studio, and develop Internet web page applications. The AOC will educate students in every aspect of effective communication including writing, editing, producing, presenting, publishing, recording, and broadcasting information. Students will also engage in active and interactive learning experiences that incorporate and apply mathematics and physics-based principles to real-world audio transmission based industries.
The Academy of Information Technology (AOIT) at Desert Pines High School is designed to provide students with a first-rate academic course of study well suited for college preparation, in combination with a rigorous, industry approved, technical preparation for a career in information technology. Students will experience hands-on practice and exposure to careers in IT as they participate in job-shadowing, internships and summer enrichment programs. Students will have the opportunity to earn several technology certifications (e.g. A+, CNA, MOS) that prepare them for technical schools and entry-level technology job opportunities. AOIT students will have three technology career paths from which to choose: Programming, Networking and Multimedia
