Safe Routes to School Success Stories
Success Stories
Each month we will highlight schools that are making strides in increasing the number of students who walk or bicycle to school. See below for a success story submitted by Snyder Elementary School.

William E. Wright Elementary School is encouraging more parents and students to walk to and from school. This will help alleviate some of the traffic congestion around the school, teach children safe walking skills, and provide students and their parents with a few extra minutes of physical activity each day. In November, under the leadership of Mr. Fred Peters (a grandparent at the school) the school participated in Win on Wednesdays Walk to school days. Each Wednesday, students who walked or rode their bikes safely to school received a pencil. When they took that pencil to the office, they got it sharpened and got a ticket to enter into a drawing that was held in December. Prizes included water bottles, scooters, gift cards, and two lucky winners won brand new bikes. We will continue to encourage walking throughout the rest of the year. Keep up the good work Wright students and families! Thank you to everyone who helped with Win on Wednesday Walks in November: Clark County School District Police, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers and crossing guards, Katie Tamanini and Jeremy McClain from Mountains Edge Master Association, Erin Breen of Safe Community Partnership, Principal Erbach, Mr. Peters and CCSD Safe Routes to School.
