Clark County School District Regulation 5118 provides for the acceptance of organizationally-sponsored foreign exchange students.

ORGANIZATIONALLY-SPONSORED STUDENTS (FOREIGN EXCHANGE)

| I. |
The Curriculum and Professional Development Division will develop procedures for foreign exchange students requesting enrollment in the Clark County School District.

A. |
Organizationally-sponsored (J-1, exchange visitor) foreign exchange programs must be officially recognized by an organization specifically designated by the U.S. Department of State
Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. (Exchange Visitor Program Regulations (22 CFR 62.25))

B. |
Foreign exchange students on J-1 visas must have sufficient command of the English language to function in a regular classroom. The District will not provide language acquisition or other student services to these students.

C. |
All foreign exchange students will be responsible for all regular school fees and expenses.
|
| |
D. |
No foreign exchange student may obtain a high school diploma.
|
| |
E. |
Organizations and students must report to and be compliant with Clark County School District appointed authorities on placement and procedures.

ORGANIZATIONALLY-SPONSORED STUDENTS (FOREIGN EXCHANGE)
The Clark County School District recognizes the benefits derived from the placement of exchange students from throughout the world. These benefits accrue to the exchange student, to the community, host family, and to the school population as a whole. No exchange program will be in conflict with, or at the expense of, the regular school program.
