To prepare our students for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment in our nation’s modern economy CCSD offers secondary foreign languge students a four-year sequence of study. Spanish, French, German, and Japanese. Selected sites offer Chinese and Latin are offered based on student interest and staffing.

Clark County School District’s foreign language programs reflect the content standards of the Nevada Framework based on developing language proficiency through: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.


THE HIGH SCHOOL FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASS FEATURES:


COMMUNICATION: COMMUNICATE IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH
  • Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
  • Students understand and interpret written and spoken language in a variety of subjects.
  • Students present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics.



CULTURES: GAIN KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF OTHER CULTURES
  • Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the practices and perspectives of the cultures studied.
