Kindergarten

"Español para mí" (Spanish for me) is a unique instructional video program designed to give kindergarten students the opportunity to begin learning Spanish and to acquire native-like pronunciation. Hosted by Pepito and Lupita, life-size puppets, this innovative video program focuses on communication in Spanish and uses games, activities, and songs to introduce or reinforce kindergarten curricular concepts. The video program consists of 30 ten-minute lessons.

Grade 1 -5

The "Español para ti" (Spanish for you) Video/DVD Program provides Spanish language and Hispanic cultures instruction for Clark County elementary school students. This exciting, sequential, five-level, multi media program is designed to teach elementary children Spanish in a low stress environment using puppets, visuals, games, and songs.  Classroom teachers do not need to know Spanish in order to facilitate its instruction. Students and teachers are learning partners in this effort.

Over the five-year length of the video/DVD series, students acquire an acceptable degree of proficiency in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing basic Spanish. The students learn basic vocabulary, structures, and expressions essential for everyday use; and they develop an appreciation and understanding of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking people. As the grade levels progress, the vocabulary becomes increasingly sophisticated; and students are able to produce their own language within a limited scope. Reading and writing skills are developed in grades 3-5.
