Beyond the Classroom

There are many things that you can do with your student in order to emphasize healthy behaviors. Consider yourself a role model for your student and stress healthy choices. Have an open communication line for your students to come and talk about any health topic. Whether you talk about your day, take a bike ride, or cook dinner together there are always healthy teaching opportunities for your student.

Here are some healthy ideas:

Set realistic health goals as a family.
Take a daily bike ride or walk with your student.
Plan a meal, cook, and eat together.
Limit TV screening times, instead have a family game night.
Read together.
Take time and listen, ask about your student's day.
Share your ideas, values, and goals.
