CCSD with funding made possible by the Michael Jordan Inspiration Grant and the Junior League of Las Vegas will be embarking on our adventure project for the 2008-2009 school year!

Select middle schools in the Clark County School District will be working with Project Adventure Curriculum in their Physical Education Classes. This curricular approach involves teaching fitness concepts through challenges, teamwork, and cooperation while stressing the importance of physical activity as a lifestyle choice. Adding a bit of real world experiential education, students will take field trips to kayak, hike and rock climb. Students will learn about new ways to enjoy being physically active in new environments, while also learning about how to be good stewards of our public lands.

Schools participating in the adventure program receive the project adventure curriculum, adventure equipment for physical education classes, and class sets of pedometers. Nike provides all students with backpacks for the various trips and the UNLV Public Lands Institute graciously provides the instruction on the field trips. Our hopes are to expand the program to more schools next year!
