TISS

Technology and Information Systems Division

The Technology and Information Systems Division (TISS) provides technology related leadership, coordination, and support throughout the district. The division's major responsibilities include supporting the district's central information systems (e.g. payroll, student accounting, human resources), implementing and maintaining local area and wide area networks throughout the district, maintaining the district's inventory of requirements, TISS is organized into the following units:

Central Information Systems

The Central Information Services (CIS) Department is responsible for the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of district-wide enterprise computer-based systems. Additionally, CIS provides support for SMART/SASI - the Statewide Management of Automated Record Transfer (SMART) project.

Networking Services

Networking Services is responsible for providing networking support to the school district. This includes providing connectivity and support to over 317 district schools and administrative sites, all networking equipment such as servers, network printers, etc., as well as network security related activities.

School Technology Deployment Services

School Technology Deployment Services is responsible for the quality-assured integration of technology in the district's schools. This department performs project management and installation associated with networking over 326 district schools, from server to desktop. This includes equipment installation for both Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) communication and all levels of associated software.

Telecommunications Services

Telecommunications Services is responsible for providing the highest possible quality of communication equipment installation and maintenance services to the district. This equipment includes electronic and digital telephone systems; two-way radios; cellular telephone services; high-speed data transmitting circuits; and fiber optic and Category 5 data network cabling. Installation services include research and development, planning, equipment installation, testing, and operational in-service training. Maintenance services include scheduled preventive maintenance inspections, onsite equipment repair, and evaluation and replacement of obsolete equipment.

New phone systems are being deployed throughout the district. As a result, extensions at schools and central office locations are changing. An online directory has been created to provide you with the most up-to-date information.

Teacher Voice Mailbox Information

To enhance communication with parents, Telecommunication Services has provided each teacher with a voice mailbox, even if your school has not received the new phone system that includes a phone in every classroom. Your voice mailbox is accessible from any phone - at home, on vacation, or from another school location.

User Support Services

User Support Services is responsible for providing desktop maintenance support for personal computer (PC) users throughout the district, utilizing district personnel and contracted services. This includes a Call Support Center that functions as a traditional Help Desk for the entire district for personal computer related trouble calls and dispatching onsite support for both hardware and software failure issues. Additionally, User Support provides hardware and software installation for administrative sites, special regional support, and general support for the district.
