TV show to discuss budget cuts affecting education

Thursday July 03, 2008 - General

"Nevada Week In Review" will air a pair of segments July 4 and 11 focusing on the impact of Nevada's budget crisis. Guests will include several state legislators. Episode #1 airs July 4 at 7:30 p.m., while #2 airs July 11 at 7:30 p.m. on Vegas PBS, Channel 10. Among other things, the roundtable discussion will focus on how the budget crisis may impact education.

The New Teacher Welcome Center will be open July 7 through August 8 at the CPD Library, 3950 S. Pecos-McLeod. The hours will be 9-3 Mon.-Fri.

The City of Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency is seeking people who attended the Fifth Street School between 1936 and 1966 when it was the Las Vegas Grammar School. A re-dedication event this fall will recognize these individuals. For more information, call 229-4955 or click here.

Aviation program takes flight in CCSD

McCarran Intl. Airport is citing the success of its Jr. Aviators program for young students. Nearly one in three CCSD third-graders took part in the program during its inaugural year.

Clark Co. Safekey accepting mail-in registrations

Clark County Parks & Recreation Safekey and The Edge programs will hold mail-in registration July 1 through Aug. 7 for before- and after-school recreation programs held at participating elementary and middle school sites. (CCSD does not sponsor, endorse, or control any of the community Safekey programs including their programming content, staffing or enrollment.)
