Captain of Operations Division

Captain James Ketsaa began his career with the CCSD Police Department in January of 1991, following 10 years of service as a firefighter in New York. He served as a Campus Officer, Patrol Officer, Fire/Arson Investigator and a member of the Gang Unit prior to his promotion to Sergeant in September of 1993. While serving as a Patrol/Campus Supervisor he also supervised Communications, the Bike Patrol Unit, Department Fleet and many other functions within the Department.

Capt. Ketsaa received a Meritorious Service Commendation in October of 1995, for action at a gang related shooting that occurred at a local high school.

Capt. Ketsaa attended the Community College of Southern Nevada and the State University of New York, Corning Community College and New York Institute of Technology earning a degree in Television Production/Engineering. Lt. Ketsaa holds a Nevada P.O.S.T. Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Management Certificates in Law Enforcement.

Some of Capt. Ketsaa’s professional affiliations include: IACP, NASRO, NASSLEO, FBI Infraguard, Z-Square and RMIN.

Capt. Ketsaa has also authored various law enforcement grants that have been beneficial to the CCSD Police Department.
