CCSD uses share of federal dollars to create jobs, increase student achievement
A smarter use of renewed federal funds from the Elementary Secondary Education Act will lead to more teachers and lower class sizes in Clark County's neediest schools. During its regular meeting on July 12, 2012, the Clark County School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees approved the use of the funds in schools with 40 percent of their populations on Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL) instead of the 75 percent requirement from previous years. CCSD will receive more than $81 million from the federal government for the 2012-13 school year to assist students from high-need, low-income families in the Las Vegas valley and surrounding areas.
