CCSD sets enrollment record

For the first time in its history, the Clark County School District (CCSD) has more than 313,000 students enrolled. The latest enrollment figure comes less than a week after Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky and the CCSD Board of School Trustees began conversations about options to alleviate overcrowding in schools, including possible re-zoning, the use of additional portable classrooms, year-round schedule conversions and future school construction. In the coming weeks, continued enrollment growth is expected in most district schools. Overall, elementary schools are 14 percent over capacity. Count Day, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 20, is the state's mandated enrollment reporting date and provides the district with a preliminary student enrollment count for all schools. Student enrollment numbers are sent to the Nevada Department of Education for verification and CCSD will receive its funding from the state based on how many students are enrolled on this day.
