"Education News" reports on CCSD turnaround schools

The federal government’s “turnaround” initiative for schools represents one of the largest investments in public education in U.S. history. As reported by Education News, the government has infused more than $4.6 billion into the School Improvement Grant (SIG) program – also known as the turnaround initiative -- since 2009. On June 29, 2012, CCSD added the turnaround designation to four more of its schools, just hours after Nevada received $3.5 million in SIG funding.
