Department Overview


“To enhance the safe and healthy development of students and their families by supporting the development of a comprehensive, sustainable system of prevention, assessment, intervention, access to treatments, and crisis response.”

The Department of Student Threat Evaluation and Crisis Response consists of licensed counselors and school psychologists that have special training and experience in threat assessment analysis. Their responsibilities are associated with assessing and helping manage critical events and threat situations that occur in the Clark County School District. This department offers the following services:

  • Threat Assessment: Assess, intervene and support school management of threats of lethal violence made by a student.
  • Suicide Ideation Assessment: Provide consultative supports for school-based interventions with students exhibiting suicidal ideation; provide direct assessment and intervention, as needed, on behalf of students who are engaged in suicide ideation.
  • Postvention: Assisting schools in normalizing the educational environment after a critical event has occurred requiring on-site assistance.  
  • Safety Re-entry Planning: Providing educationally-based counseling and liaison community supports for students who have posed a risk to self or others.
  • Critical Event Response: Provide on-site assistance and support to schools who find themselves in an expanded lockdown or evacuation event requiring full District resources.
