Department Overview

Department Functions

The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Department places students, ages 3-5, who have been identified by Child Find with a disability or developmental delay. Once a child has been found eligible, an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meeting is held to address the individualized needs of the student.

Early Childhood programs are offered to ensure that every child enters school ready to learn. Inclusive education programs include:

Community-Based Programs – Specially designed instruction is provided to students in the general education preschool setting.

Preschool Inclusion Model – Programs are offered at various elementary school campuses throughout the District. Classrooms consist of students with disabilities and typical peers.

KIDS (Kids Integrated Delivery of Service) – Programs specifically designed for children identified as having an educational eligibility of Autism.  Classrooms consist of students with disabilities and typical peers.
