The Education Services Division provides instruction and related services for over 50,000 students; many of whom have experienced challenges in comprehensive academic environments. The unique needs of these students require ongoing evaluation and the development of curriculum and innovative instructional programs. One of the departments within Education Services Division that school administrators work hand-in-hand with is the Department of Pupil Personnel Services, which oversees the student behavioral referral process and student attendance enforcement.
The Department of Pupil Personnel Services is responsible for processing student expulsion recommendations and coordinating due process hearings as prescribed by district, state, and/or federal regulations. All expulsion referrals are forwarded to this department for resolution. Additionally, all attendance enforcement issues including the processing of truancy citations and referrals for parental educational neglect are overseen by this department.
