MENTORING TOOLS
A variety of supportive mentoring tools are provided to aid Mentor Facilitators in their role.
Site-based Mentoring Plan
Each individual school is encouraged to develop a site-based mentoring plan that focuses on the needs of the individual teacher with a balance of task and relationship activities, as well as recognizing the phases new teachers go through by giving them a framework to design a support program to make the first year of teaching a positive experience for our new teachers.
Communication
Each Mentor Facilitator is requested to communicate monthly with the Teacher Induction and Mentoring Department in regards to the specific mentoring activities occurring and additional needs of the new teachers at their site.
Mentor Facilitator Conference Icon
Mentor Facilitators are given access to the T.E.A.M. (Teachers Encouraging And Mentoring) Facilitator Conference Icon. This discussion icon provides the Mentor Facilitator with current information on Upcoming Events, School Highlights, Mentoring Matters Monthly Newsletter, Facilitator Collaboration, and Frequently Asked Questions.
Mentoring Matters Monthly Newsletter
This Mentoring Matters Newsletter is published monthly by the Teacher Induction and Mentoring Department. It highlights information about topics such as: building trust, effective mentoring strategies, mentoring tips, characteristics of an effective teacher, and instructional strategies; as well as, providing upcoming events and professional learning opportunities reminders.
New Career Teacher Academy Module Collaborations
Each site-based mentor provides support and collaboration to the new career teachers completing the Teacher Academies. Professional dialogue and discussion are requested to assist the new career teacher in implementing their extended learning opportunity.
