Centennial HS teacher to serve on national panel

Jenelle Hopkins of Centennial High School has been invited to serve on the Teachers' Advisory Committee for the National Environmental Education Foundation. They are creating a new education program to improve the way environmental education is offered in high schools nationwide. Only a select number of teachers were chosen. Hopkins will represent issues relevant to desert communities.

Fremont Professional Development MS seeks teachers

Qualified teachers are encouraged to apply for the new Fremont Professional Development Middle School. The school will launch this fall and provide opportunities for middle school teachers to experience teacher education programs, professional development initiatives, site-based research projects and grant writing.

Teacher Erin Jolly honored for music education

Keller MS teacher Erin Jolly has been named the "Nevada Music Educators Association Outstanding New Music Educator of the Year." The award honors music teachers who are new to Nevada, set high standards for the music profession and provide inspiration and direction for students.

Career and Technical Education teachers needed

State principals of the year announced

Charity Varnado (Mojave High School) and Kay Singer (Cadwallader Middle School) have been named high school and middle school State Principals of the Year for 2008. They will be at a reception in Washington, D.C., this fall.
