CCSD students' artwork featured in competition

Monday May 12, 2008 - Students

Artwork from CCSD students was highlighted in the Congressional Art Competition reception Monday evening. The competition was open to high school students in much of southern Nevada.

McCarter scholarship awarded to Eldorado students

Eldorado HS students Barrister Perez and Ysenia Verdinez will each receive a scholarship which honors Clinton H. McCarter, an Eldorado HS science teacher who was killed in car accident on Sept. 30, 2007. McCarter's family set up a scholarship fund in his honor to assist minority students who have overcome adversity and display the determination to achieve. For details, call Lisa Cano at 799-7200.

CCSD students win National Merit Scholarships

Seven CCSD students are among 2,500 distinguished high school seniors who have won National Merit $2500 Scholarships.

Two students chosen for national athletics event

Two participants in CCSD's U.S. Paralympic Academy have been selected for the Wheelchair Sports USA's Junior Team USA.

Results of NV State Spelling Bee

Tuesday March 18, 2008 - Students

The Nevada State Spelling Bee was held at Cimarron Memorial HS March 8. The following students made it into the top 10.
Ally Horseman (Martin MS-7th grade) - 7th place
Brett Murray (Webb MS-6th grade) - 5th place
Daniel Waqar (Rogich MS-8th grade) - 3rd place
The championship word was alluvium.
