Congratulations to Knudson student Zach Milemore

Tuesday November 03, 2009 - Students

Zach Milemore, a 6th-grader at Knudson Middle School, had his drawing chosen as the "month of June" for Silver State Schools Credit Union's 2010 Calendar contest. He received $100 and a plaque, as well as a matted version of his original artwork.

Congratulations to Spelling Bee semifinalists

The Clark County School District congratulates the 18 students in grades 6, 7 and 8 who were semifinalists in the recent CCSD Spelling Bee. The competition was held Oct. 27, and these students will advance to the CCSD Final Spelling Bee on Dec. 9 at Vegas PBS (Channel 10).

Elementary students can enter breakfast contest

The CCSD Food Service Department invites elementary school students to take part in its breakfast contest which starts Oct. 26 and runs through Nov. 10. Prizes include skateboards and bicycles.

Twenty CCSD students took part in a recent workshop of the Wolfgang Puck Culinary Council. They taste-tested four recipes developed in conjunction with Wolfgang Puck. Fifth and seventh grade students gathered in Henderson recently for "KidsVention," a mock political event. It was meant to give participants extra insight into the American political system and voting process. Click here to watch a slide show of the Oct. 9 event.

Students to benefit from books donated by Borders

Spread the Word Nevada’s children’s literacy program received more than 4,500 books valued at over $27,000 from a back to school book drive sponsored by Borders’ book stores throughout the Las Vegas Valley. 

Valley HS student serves NV Bd. of Education

Zhan Okuda-Lim, a student at Valley High School, is the Student Representative to the Nevada State Board of Education. Zhan also is a Nevada Youth Legislator for Clark County Senate District 5 (appointed by State Senator Shirley Breeden), and also Valley High School's representative to the CCSD School Board Student Advisory Committee.
