Virtual High School Distance Education

Virtual High School Distance Education is a program of the Clark County School District that provides concurrent enrollment educational opportunities through interactive online courses, televised instruction, and DVDs/videotapes. Students can take these courses from any location, as long as they have access to the necessary technology. All classes are curriculum based and meet or exceed the standards established by the Nevada Department of Education.

Tech Prep Program

Tech Prep is a program that allows students to earn college credit for career and technical course work completed in high school. Students in grades 11 and 12, who earn an "A" or "B" in an articulated Tech Prep class, will receive Community College of Southern Nevada (CCSN) credit upon completion of the course. The only cost to the student is a $10 per course processing fee. For more information contact: Tech Prep Coordinator, Community College of Southern Nevada, C2E 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave., North Las Vegas, NV 89030 - (702) 651-4820.

Millennium Scholarship Recipients

Graduating seniors will be identified by CIS once final transcripts are posted and a review of residency requirement has been made by the Guidance Office. The District will notify the Millennium office in July of eligible graduates. For details, visit the Office of the State Treasurer.

Use the form in Appendix F for submitting names of students who cleared the millennium requirements after the DistrictÕs final list is sent in July, page 69. This form must be used to clear students who graduated from a school in the Education Services Division and who meet the qualifications. Mid-year and summer graduates who qualify for the Millennium scholarship must be manually cleared with the Millennium Office.

Dual Credit

Dual credit can be earned for college or university courses that are not currently offered at the studentÕs school of enrollment, during summer, or if there is a course conflict. These courses may count for required or elective high school credit. A three (3)-credit university course equals one-half unit of Clark County School District credit. school for more information.
