LIBRARY NEWS
One of the programs in the O. K. Adcock library is the Birthday Book Club. Membership is $10. People who join choose one of the new books we have available to donate to the library. The person's name is placed inside the cover on a bookplate. Even after that student leaves Adcock, his/her name remains here in that donated book. That person will choose some prizes from the treasure chest and will be the first one to check out the donated book. Three times a year there will be a Birthday Book Club party in the library with cake and ice cream and games. Birthday Book Club members may choose which party they wish to attend so it is not necessary to join near their birthday. Whether a student joins before or after his/her birthday, his/her birthday will be celebrated. Our students have been very supportive of this program in the past. Because of their support, we get many new books for our library.

We have a very active Accelerated Reader program at Adcock. A student reads a book and then takes a test on the computer to earn points.

THERE are monthly goals for each grade level. They are as follows:

First Grade: 2 points
Second Grade: 4 points
Third Grade: 6 points
Fourth Grade: 8 points
Fifth Grade: 10 points
IF a student achieves his/her monthly goal, he/she will be given a prize. There are also yearly goals toward which students can work.

THE ABC Group (Adcock Book Chats) is a reading group for fourth and fifth graders who like to read. Students who participate will read a particular book that we have at Adcock, and then we'll meet to discuss it during lunch recess. All of the books used in the ABC Book Chats are Accelerated Reader titles so this is another way for the students to accumulate points. Fourth graders will be able to participate during the second half of the year.
