Counselors must complete their portion of the Student Application form for each course with required counselor and administrative signatures. The student’s most recent transcript must accompany the application form.
Students and/or parents/guardians must hand carry the application, transcript, and fees to the AIS Office. No faxed applications will be accepted.
A registration fee of $50 is required for each semester credit attempted. The Academy for Individualized Study does not grant the fee waivers.
Fees are paid on a “cash only” basis.
A book deposit fee of $100 is required. The $100 book deposit fee is refundable when the book is returned undamaged. Again, book deposit fees are on a “cash only” basis. Textbook refunds are issued by check to the parent’s name.
Once the application, transcript, and fees are accepted, the student is enrolled into AIS concurrently. All grades will be placed directly into SASIxp at the completion of the course. Counselors can access the student’s grades from SASIxp (end of semester) or Passport, screen 19 (48 hours after course completion).
DEADLINES
Students must complete the AIS course of study within sixty (60) days.
Day one begins on the date in which the application and fees are received. 60 days is a reasonable timeframe in which to complete all course outline homework and attend for testing. Students can only take a maximum of two tests per day.
When students exceed the sixty (60) day limit, they will lose the ability to earn the credit and forfeit their fees. The book deposit fee is refundable when the book is returned in usable condition.
Graduating seniors and early graduating 11th graders must complete all outside credits by Friday, May 29, 2009.
All other non-graduating students can access a course at any time within the school year. However, the deadline for the last acceptable application for Concurrent Enrollment is Friday, May 1, 2009 with the final deadline for date of completion Friday, May 29, 2009.
