Attendance is compulsory in the state of Nevada for all children between the ages of 7 and 17. It is the parents’ responsibility to see that regular attendance is maintained. A written note must accompany students upon their return to school after an absence. Please call the school at 799-2220 if your child will be out. Teachers should provide an opportunity for students to make up work missed during an excused absence and students are to be held accountable for that work.
Breakfast and lunch are served each day. Breakfast and lunch must be eaten in the cafeteria (MP Room). Students may bring their own lunch if so desired. It is expected that students practice good manners in the lunch room. Some rules of courteous behavior are: 1. Wait your turn in line. 2. Put trash in containers. 3. Leave table and surrounding area clean and orderly.
Assemblies are held periodically to reward behavior and for enrichment of the curriculum. At all times the student behavior should be refined and courteous. An indication of the cultural level of a school is the conduct of the student body at an assembly. Whether guests are present or not, each student is personally responsible for the impression made by the school as a whole. Unacceptable conduct will not be tolerated.
Homework is an integral part of the learning process and is used to extend and expand activities presented in the classroom. Homework will reflect the identified need of students, and, as with all work, will reflect acceptable standards of accuracy, neatness, legibility, spelling and punctuation. Homework will normally be assigned on week days only, leaving the weekends free. |
Fire drill instructions are posted in each room of the building and must be followed. Each drill shall be treated as if it were an actual emergency situation which potentially is a life and death matter. Although speed is important in any procedure, of greater importance is orderliness and the ability of all students to be given directions and proceed in an orderly manner |
At the end of each six weeks of the reporting period, an Unsatisfactory Pupil Progress Report will be sent home for students who are doing unsatisfactory work.
Teachers are expected to conference with parents on an ongoing basis, particularly before problems develop into large proportion.
Progress reports/report cards are issued three times a year. Students in grades 1-5 receive the following grades in some subject areas: A - Excellent Achievement B - Above Average Achievement C - Average Achievement D - Below Average Achievement F - Failure to Meet Established Standards of Achievement
Bicycles are not encouraged. However, for those students in grades 3 - 5 who do ride them to school, bike racks are provided. Students, however, need to have a sturdy lock for their bicycle. While on school grounds, bikes must be walked. The school does not take responsibility for stolen or vandalized bicycles.
Should it become necessary for you to leave our school during the year, please, if possible, notify your teacher and the school office two weeks in advance so that we may help make your transfer speedy and efficient. Library books and textbooks must be returned before leaving.
If children should require medication during school hours, parents must complete a medication release form at the school office. NO medications of any kind can be administered without the parent previously completing this form.
A school nurse is available on a limited schedule. A First Aid Safety Assistant (FASA) is available daily. Students who become ill at school should report to the office. If the illness or injury is of such a nature that the student should go home, the parent will be notified. Students are not permitted to leave the school without permission from the school office.

Student Drop Off And Pick Up From School Parents are responsible for getting children to school on time. It is important that parents not inhibit the flow of traffic by double parking, stopping on the street, making U turns, parking or moving through the bus lane, etc. |
The school phone is a business phone. Please make all necessary arrangements in the morning before school. Due to safety issues, the office can no longer give phone messages to students. If a parent needs to get a message to a student, the parent needs to come in to the office and provide a photo ID, and at that time we will be able to relay a message. |
