Students in the Class of 2009 and beyond (current & new students to Cannon) must pass reading, writing, math, and science. Any student who completes course requirements but does not pass the Nevada High School Proficiency Examinations will receive a Certificate of Attendance rather than a diploma.
NEVADA’S MILLENNIUM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The State of Nevada Millennium Scholarship Program provides financial support to Nevada’s high school graduates who plan to attend a Nevada college or university. You may receive up to a maximum award of $10,000 for undergraduate coursework during the six years following your high school graduation. There is no application form to complete. If you meet all Millennium Scholarship requirements upon high school graduation, the district will submit your name at the end of June to the Office of the State Treasurer. You will receive an award notification in July. Policy guidelines can be obtained by calling 1-888-477-2667 or at their website at http://nevadatreasurer.com.
SCHOOLS OF CHOICE
Clark County School district students have the choice to attend a specialized program and educational environment best suited to their unique interests, special skills, and diverse abilities. Student choice equates with having the opportunity not only to focus on a specialized course of study, but also with having the opportunity to continue one’s academic course of study. Secondary magnet programs have criteria-based application procedures. When the number of eligible student applications for a magnet program exceeds the number of seats available, the CCSD will utilize a lottery process. All magnet school applications are due the third Friday in February. For more information, refer to the following schools of choice program descriptions:
