Welcome to the 2008-2009 Cannon JHS school year!
CANNON JHS PTSA MEETING MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2008 AT 3:30 P.M.
We at Cannon Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA) are very excited to be working with Cannon’s teachers, staff, administrators, students, and parents this coming school year.
First of all, congratulations to Cannon JHS for making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2007-2008 school year! Cannon Junior High School has been classified as a school which demonstrated Adequate Yearly Progress during the 2007 - 2008 school year. Classification as demonstrating AYP is due to the school meeting all No Child Left Behind criteria in the areas of English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and the school-wide other indicator.
How to join Cannon JHS PTSA:
- Membership in Cannon’s PTSA is open to any student, parent, family member, friend…anyone who is concerned with the education, health, and welfare of children. Cannon PTSA provides programs such as Reflections and Student Pedestrian Safety Concerns, events such as the Talent Show, and we raise funds to help support the arts and academic programs at Cannon JHS.
- As a PTSA member be as active as you would like to be or as your schedule allows. That’s up to you. We would love to have your involvement at our meetings or as a volunteer. You are only called upon if you sign up to volunteer.
- See Measurable Results. More than 85 rigorous academic research studies conducted through over 30 years of research prove that kids do better when parents are involved. Grades are higher. Test scores improve. Attendance increases.

Joining PTSA helps to better the lives of Cannon’s children and families. There is an online membership form, which you can complete and send to school with your student in an envelope marked “Cannon PTSA”. The annual membership dues is only $6.00 per person. Please have your student turn in your membership envelope to the front office.
