Here is how TECH PREP BENEFITS CLARK COUNTY STUDENTS...
Did you know that Clark County students saved over $487,000 in tuition fees last year by earning Tech Prep credit in various career and technical education courses? Over 1,600 students from district high schools earned college credit through 82 different courses articulated with programs at the College of Southern Nevada.
Tech Prep is a program that allows high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit by taking specific high school courses. The courses are part of technical skill-building programs and are taught at local high schools by high school teachers. After successfully completing these career and technical classes and earning an A or B, students can pay just $10 to obtain college credit from the College of Southern Nevada. These credits have the potential to lay the foundation for obtaining an associates degree leading to a high skill, high-wage career. In some cases, these credits may also transfer to four year universities.
It is estimated that 80 percent of jobs today require more than a high school diploma. By taking advantage of Tech Prep courses, students can get a head start on college, opening the door to more career opportunities and higher wages.
