Students in the Medical Professions program will select either the Biomedical or Biotechnology strand. The Biomedical strand prepares students for working with patients. Students will study common diseases, injuries and conditions and the underlying pathopsysiology. The Biotechnology strand prepares students for careers that support the medical field. Students will be taught basic biotechnology procedures and techniques as they apply to the medical, environmental, pharmaceutical/manufacturing, industrial and agricultural professions.
Students in the Medical Professions Program have two medical classes this year.
 Introduction to Health Science
This class has been designed to introduce the student to the different systems of the human body.  Students will not only learn the structures (anatomy), but will also gain an understanding on how each structure in a body system functions.  Emphasis will be placed on normal structure and function.  Information will be presented from a medical application viewpoint.

Physical Examination and Assessment
This class has been designed to allow students an understanding of how diseases, conditions, and injuries are diagnosed.  Students apply the information about normal anatomy and structure (learned in Introduction to Health Science) when performing physical examinations.  Students are required to describe their findings without using the word "Normal".  Students are also required to document any findings that would be considered outside the "normal" range.  Students will gain an understanding of the physical examination and assessment techniques, essentially what the doctor does.
