Centennial High School
Centennial High School's mission is to prepare students for success beyond graduation. Centennial's graduation rate was exceptional in the 2007-08 school year. Centennial had a graduation rate of 84% which was above the district state average. In addition to a high graduation rate Centennial made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress). Centennial continues to impress with it's low dropout rate of 2.0%
Centennial High School is a comprehensive high school serving students from grades 9-12. One of 41 high schools in the Clark County School District, Centennial is located in the far northwest area of the Las Vegas valley. With an ethnically diverse population, Centennial has experienced tremendous success in its short history. Our students continue to excel academically by receiving National Merit Finalist Recognitions, scholarships, and Military Academy Appointments. Our Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp has established a tradition of excellence. The NJROTC Program was selected as the number one unit in the nation in 2007. Athletically, the Bulldogs are a force to be respected, having earned over 50 division championships, over 28 region championships, and eleven state championships.
Centennial's Activities Department provides many opportunities for our students to experience the challenge and reward of high school traditions, which plays an integral role in their development. Our Student Council has received numerous recognitions for their dedication to community service. Michael Collins was awarded the Region VII Student Council Advisor of the year award in 2008.
The Performing Arts Department strived to showcase its many talented students. In 2008 the orchestra was invited to Carnegie Hall to perform. In addition to the orchestra's accomplishments the band, choir, dance, and theater department have been recognized district-wide. Over 700 students are enrolled in the Performing Arts Department, and it continues to grow with each succeeding year.

PSAT
CCSD will, again, provide all current on-target 10th graders the opportunity to take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) this October at district expense.
This tremendous opportunity is being offered to help more students become ready for college. Taking the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT exams is considered an indicator of student success and college readiness. Other indicators include enrolling in Honors and/or AP/IB courses; completing four years of math and science; and passing the Nevada High School Proficiency Exams
The results of this year's PSAT will identify your child's strengths and areas that need improvement. The examination will also serve as a practice for taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and the SAT in your child's junior year.
The PSAT will be administered October 15th to all on-target sophomores at no cost. It is important that your student be present that day to take advantage of this opportunity. Juniors interested in taking the exam will need to pay for the test through the banker's office.
