2007-2008 School Year
Student Planners
Every student will be given an organizational planner upon enrollment. Each teacher will require students to enter homework and projects in their planners on a daily basis. Planners will help students and parents monitor academic progress. A parent signature is required weekly. Important dates, schedules, and school numbers are also included in the planner. If planners are lost, destroyed, or stolen, new ones must be purchased from the school banker for $10.00.

CCSD Guidance & Counseling Website
The Guidance and Counseling Web site is designed to provide information on counseling services provided by the district. It is also a support reference for students and parents on Post-Secondary Planning. This planning information will help students prepare for their future educational decisions. Starting with grade six, parents and students will be able to review an activity checklist to prepare them for college, apprenticeships, trade and technical schools, military opportunities, or to go directly to work. For details visit: www. ccsd.net/cpd, select Guidance and Counseling from the menu for the information.
Nevada's Millennium Scholarship Program The State of Nevada's Millennium Scholarship Program provides financial support to Nevada's high school graduates who plan to attend a Nevada college or university. You may receive up to a maximum award of $10,000 for undergraduates coursework during the six years following your high school graduation. There is no application form to complete. If you meet all Millennium Scholarship requirements upon high school graduation, the district will submit your name at the end of June to the Office of the State Treasurer. You will receive an award notification in July. Policy guidelines and requirements for eligibility can be obtained by calling 1-888-477-2667 or at www.NevadaTreasurer.com. Work With Us To Ensure Your Childs Good Attendance
In September 1998, the Clark County Board of School Trustees voted to adopt changes to the district's attendance regulations. These changes are designed to assist students educationally and to help the district comply with state accountability and truancy laws. In addition, the current truancy procedures support and augment the attendance regulation.
REMEMBER: Students who are not in school are not benefiting from the educational opportunities provided or the instruction of excellent teachers.
The key provisions for secondary students are as follows.
Explanations should include the following information:
1. The first and last name of student.
2. The date(s) the student was absent.
3. The reason the student was physically or mentally unable to attend, how the absence related to the student's disability or nature of the emergency. Students or parents/guardians are allowed three days after the return from an absence to request homework, and schools must allow three days for each day absent for the assignment to be completed and submitted.
Parents and students must work with the school to develop an intervention plan for any student with poor attendance. Please give us a call if you have any questions about the procedures or provisions of the attendance regulation. 799-7020 x 4035.
