Desert Oasis High School Proudly Announces
“The Inventive Theatrical Players” Premiere Theatre Season!
The opening of our beautiful new high school has been so exciting! Ms. Bernstein, Theatre Director at Desert Oasis High School is thrilled to announce our 2008-2009 Premiere Theatre Season for the incredible Diamondback Theatre. The Diamondback Theatre is a state of the art facility and will be home to our Performing Arts events during the academic school year! The students are so excited about being able to open our new theatre to the Desert Oasis, Clark County School District, and Las Vegas community!

“Story Theatre” by Paul Sills, the founder of Chicago’s Second City: November 18-21, 2008
Inventive Theatrical Music Theatre Showcase for Broadway Cares: December 18th, 2008
Student-directed short plays and the premiere of “The Mime Child”, an original short drama about the world of silence: January 27th, 2009
“The Lost Shakespeare” A student touring project: DOHS School Matinee to be announced for 2009: This project will tour to Southwest Region area middle and elementary schools providing Shakespeare as a tool for learning.
Pre-State Conference Showcase: March 17, 2009 (Competition material will be presented prior to our Nevada Thespian State Conference)
“The Boyfriend” a rollicking-fun 1920’s musical written by Sandy Wilson! May 7, 8, 9, 2009!

AUDITIONS, AUDITIONS, AUDITIONS!
OPEN AUDITIONS AND CASTING ARE ANNOUNCED!
All students of Desert Oasis High School are invited to audition for the first show of our Premiere Theatre Season! The show is “STORY THEATRE” written by Paul Sills who founded Chicago’s Second City! Famous players who came out of Second City have been featured on Saturday Night Live, SCTV, and much more! Follow in the footsteps of: Tina Fey, Molly Shannon, Mike Myers, and Martin Short! “STORY THEATRE” is based on Grimm’s Fairy Tales, with scripted stories that will involve narration and quick characterization.
Casting: Auditions will be held for up to 22 performers who can act, move, narrate, and play a variation of fun roles! Music will play a part in this exuberant play! Come to the auditions ready to read from the script, move, and use improvisation! Don’t miss your chance to participate in the opening of our beautiful Diamondback Theatre at Desert Oasis High School!

It's time to help save a life. DECA is teaming with United Blood Services for our first blood drive. If you are at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds, you are eligible to give blood. Pick up a consent form from the activities office. Get it signed by your parents and come on down to the auxiliary gym Tuesday, 9/30/08 from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. Family and friends are encouraged to participate.  |
