The mission at William E. Ferron Elementary School is to prepare students for the global society by providing an integrated learning environment in literacy, fine arts, the sciences, and life skills through practical application.

School Highlights

A research-based reading intervention program was
implemented for students who were approaching grade
level standards.
•
Provided extensive professional development in the area of
writing with an emphasis on Writers’ Workshop and Writing
Traits.
•
A Literacy Enhancement program was implemented that
provided after-school tutoring, Saturday and summer school
sessions.
•
Piloted the English Language Learner's Instructional
System to assist students in learning English as a second
language.
•
Increased student accessibility to technology with two new
computer labs and one new portable laptop computer lab.
•
Math Facts in a Flash, a computer-based program, was
implemented to promote the mastery of basic math facts.
•
Student recognition provided for outstanding achievement
in academics, attendance, and behavior.
•
Special programs included Show Choir, Drama Club, Art
Club, Children of the Arts, Career Day, and an Education
Rocks Night.
•
Leadership opportunities were provided for students
through Student Council, Peer Mediation, and Cross-age
Tutoring programs.
