We, the staff, parents, students and community of H.P. Fitzgerald Elementary School are
committed to each student meeting or exceeding academic standards in a safe learning
environment while developing respect for self and others so that they become life-long learners and contributing members of our culturally diverse society. We commit to cultivating a needs satisfying environment that supports the implementation of best practices and ensures the accommodation of different learning styles of all students so they are successful learners.

School News or Announcements

We are so excited about all the wonderful things happening at H.P. Fitzgerald Elementary
School where we are continuing to soar to new heights! We are proud to announce we
reached our AYP goals last year, due to the dedication and hard work of our entire staff
and the involvement of our parents in support of student success.

While this year's AYP data is not yet available for all of our academic areas, we are proud to
report our progress on the fifth-grade writing proficiency test. Overall, the number of our fifth-
grade students who meet or exceed grade level writing standards, increased by 11%. One of
our subgroups showed even greater progress by having an amazing 21.9% increase in the
number of students who meet or exceed grade level writing standards. Way to go fifth-graders!

Field Day

Thanks to Mr. Vance and Mr. Marks for planning a very successful school field day. Also, thank you, Mr. Deveza for taking the photographs for our collage. On May 2, 2008, all of our Kindergarten through 5th graders had an opportunity to participate in a fun filled day of athletic activities. While some of our activities may not have been quite so athletic, all of the day's activities left students and staff participants entertained, physically tested, and very wet.
