Exploring All the Arts!
 Our
students report that many of their favorite experiences at
our school take place
during their Explorations classes.
This is a time set aside three days a week
for students to choose a mini-course related to our school theme. These classes
last from three to five weeks and include such topics as sign language, line
dancing, tap dancing, ballet, creative dance,
composing music, guitar, piano,
cheerleading, hockey, creating newsletters, origami, painting and poetry.
 Each classroom teacher and specialist is
responsible for developing four Explorations courses a year. In addition to enriching the
curriculum, Explorations also offers us an opportunity for students to work in
mixed grade level groupings. It helps to build our sense of school community as
students and staff alike get to know each other better. Each Explorations
session culminates with a sharing day where groups are invited to share what they have
created, written or drawn during their session. This sharing day program is broadcast
from our school theatre via
the school’s broadcast studio into all classrooms.
