Our Fine Arts Program!Gilbert has implemented several innovative programs which immerse our students in our magnet theme. We have a well recognized program for integration of the arts. Through the creation of a unique schedule, our specialists in the area of art, music, movement and drama are able to spend time in the regular classroom, with the classroom teachers and their students to integrate the arts into other curricular areas. This allows teachers to gain experience so that they can use the arts in their teaching on a regular basis and emphasizes the role of the arts in literature. Our teachers are dedicated to using the arts and communication as daily tools for teaching standard district curricula.In addition to our Integration program, Gilbert offers an Explorations program, where students have the opportunity to select and participate in four mini-courses relating to our magnet theme. Gilbert fourth and fifth grade students have the opportunity to take part in a Select Choral and Instrument Ensemble. Select groups of students also participate in our annual Shakespearean Festival and Green Show. Twice a year Gilbert holds an all-school performance day which allows every student an opportunity to participate in some aspect of the theater experience.
