Dear Parents or Guardians:
Carroll
M. Johnston Middle School will be implementing a
mandatory Standard Student Attire policy for the
2007-2008 school year.
In
order to implement a mandatory Standard Student
Attire policy, a school must follow the guidelines
of Regulation 5131. Under this regulation, at least
fifty-five (55) percent of the surveys returned
from families that make up the population of the
student body must agree to implement the Standard
Student Attire policy. Regulation 5131 was followed
and families of Carroll M. Johnston Middle School
voted to implement a mandatory Standard Student
Attire policy. Information about the policy can
be found online at: http://ccsd/net/directory/pol-reg
A
parent/guardian may apply for their child to be
exempt from the Standard Student Attire policy in
the following two instances:
1)
When the parent/guardian can demonstrate a bona
fide religious objection to wearing the Standard
Student Attire;
2)
When wearing Standard Student Attire is inappropriate
due to a verified medical condition.
I encourage you to review and discuss the Standard
Student Attire requirements below with your child.
All Standard Student Attire violations will result
in disciplinary action in alignment with Regulation
5131 the school-based progressive discipline plan.
Other
questions you may have can be answered by Mrs. Lisa
Rustand, the Principal of Carroll M. Johnston Middle
School. We appreciate parents' support of this mandatory
Standard Student Attire policy.
Sincerely, Lisa Rustand
Principal

Imagine being able to see your child's grades, homework or attendance any time you wish. Unfortunately, this valuable information often never gets to the people who have the greatest influence on a student’s education, or if it does, arrives much too late to do any good. Intouch Online remedies this information gap by making students' records viewable on the Internet. Authorized users, whether at home, school, work, the library, or around the world, are now able to access this critical information.
Johnston Middle School is very pleased to announce that we have In Touch Online available for the 2006-2007 school year. Simply by clicking on the In Touch logo or menu selection, parents, students and educational personnel are able to stay informed on current grades, homework, attendance, course history, standardized test scores, discipline and health records.
Only authorized users with a valid User ID and password are able to view Intouch Online data. Parents and guardians will need to appear in person during the 2006-2007 school year and show a photo ID before they will be able to activate a user account.
To sign up for an account, click here: IN TOUCH ONLINE ACCOUNT SETUP

Has your phone been ringing in the evening with calls from Johnston Middle School? If so, then you may already be aquatinted with our new IN TOUCH automatic dialing system that notifies parents and guardians whenever their child has an unverified absence. Students may receive an unverified absence by being more than 30 minutes late to a class or totally missing one or more periods during the day. There may be times when you are mistakenly notified of an approved absence like when your child is in the Counselor's office or Health office. If you are unsure about a reported absence or would like more information, please contact our Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Jackson, at 799-7001 extent ion 4035.
