Clark County School District Regulation 5131 Dress and Appearance

The Clark County School District reserves the right to insist that the dress and grooming of students are within the limits of generally accepted community standards and that students shall be required to show proper
attention to personal cleanliness.

Student's dress, personal appearance, and conduct are required to be of such character as not to disrupt or detract from the educational environment of the school. Any style which tends to diminish instructional effectiveness or discipline control by teachers is not acceptable.

The school administration shall have the right to designate which types of dress, fashion, fads, or appearance disrupt or detract from the educational program and may be a potential safety hazard.

The following dress code shall apply to all K.O. Knudson students:
A. Require the wearing of shoes with soles.
B. Prohibit wearing crop tops (no skin showing between bottom of shirt/blouse and top of pants or skirts), strapless, low-cut clothing, clothing with slits, or tops and outfits that provide minimum coverage.
C. Prohibit wearing clothing with spaghetti straps. All sleeveless shirts must have straps at least three inches wide and cover the shoulder.
D. Require that all shorts, skirts, and dresses must be at fingertip length. If shorts are worn, they must be hemmed and without fraying.
E. Prohibit the wearing of headgear on campus except for designated school approved uniforms or at authorized athletic practices or activities.
F. Prohibit slogans or advertising on clothing which by their controversial or obscene nature disrupt the educational setting. No spiked or studded clothing.
G. Prohibit wearing of outer wear such as coats, mittens, and scarves upon entering the classrooms.

Additionally, the following dress code violations will be enforced at K.O. Knudson Middle School:
- No sunglasses on campus,

Release of Students to Parents/Guardians
Regular attendance at school is critical to an enriched education. However, parents/guardians may find it necessary to come to school and remove their child during the regular school day. In order to ensure the safety of our students, it is required that parents/guardians present identification in the attendance office when requesting the release of a student.

Late Activity Bus

As soon as after school clubs and activities begin, there will be late buses provided for bus students Tuesdays through Fridays. Students will be issued an after school pass to stay at school. Students without passes will be expected to leave campus at 2:05 P.M. The late buses will leave Knudson at 4:00 P.M. to take students home.

Student Recognition Incentive Program
We have developed a reward system this year involving Cougar Tags. That's right, just like the old dog tags only they are in color and a lot of fun. Cougar Tags are one of the ways that we recognize or reward students for positive actions. Students receive Cougar tags throughout the school year at semester and end of year awards assemblies. Your student could receive a Cougar Tag for numerous awards from Straight A's, A/B Honor Roll, Outstanding Citizenship, Perfect Attendance, Team Academics, Physical Education, Technology, Encore, and Cougar Pride. The concept with our Cougar Tags is for our students to collect and wear as many as they can.
