Junior Varsity Quiz
(JV Quiz)

Junior Varsity Quiz is an organization dedicated to increasing students’ interest in education through competition.  This competition is in the form of memorizing facts concerning a variety of subject-matter.

There will be a one day tournament on Saturday, February 23rd, beginning at 9:00 AM at Canyon Springs High School.  The eight highest scoring teams from the tourney will move on to the quarterfinals which will be held at Canyon Springs High School on March 8th.  The two top teams will finish the season by competing against each other on KLVX TV on a date to be announced.

We have team practices for this exciting event every Tuesday in room 825.  The coaches for the team are Ms. Karen Polak and Ms. Robin Wood.

Cheerleading
The Raven Cheerleaders are the spirit of Sedway.  These students perform at all basketball games, assemblies, and orientations.  They are responsible for building school spirit on campus.  In order to become a part of the squad students must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA with no Fs in any class.  They also must have no Ns or Us in citizenship in any class at any point in time during the year.  These students must also have no RPCs or suspensions for any reason including dress code and tardies.  In order to try out students must fill out an application, proof of medical insurance, parent permission, and write a 500 word essay as to why they want to be a part of Raven Cheer and what they can bring to the squad.  Students will also have each of their current teachers fill out confidential recommendation forms worth 10 points each.  After attending the three day camp/clinic each student will try out with their chant, cheer, and dance.  They will be scored out of 10 points each in 6 categories from four judges.  The total possible points from each judge is 60 points and each teacher is 10 points totaling 300 points.  The top scores will be picked for the squad.  We will only choose the amount of students needed to replace members from the pervious year's squad that have moved or graduated from Sedway.  Once a student has made the squad they will have to pay $250.00 for the uniform and all needed materials however they are a member for the duration of their time at Sedway provided they follow all of the previous guidelines.  Tryouts will be held in late September each school year.  The cheerleading coach is Ms. Rodriguez.

National Junior Honor Society
NJHS

The advisors for NJHS are Ms. Hackbart, Ms. Jensen, and Ms. Wilson. They meet on Tuesdays after school.
Student Council
Student Council is a great way to meet new people and help plan and run fun activities at our school.  We host school dances, act as student ambassadors when special guests are on campus, make and hang posters advertising events at our school, run charity drives, plan and run assemblies, and make grams to sell and deliver for Thanksgiving, the Holiday season, and the end of the school year.  We are constantly looking for new members to join throughout the year.  You don't have to be an officer and run in the elections to be a part of Student Council.  Just swing by room 616 to get an application to fill out from Ms. Loescher and return it to her as soon as it is completed.  We look forward to meeting you soon!!!

Student Council meets every Monday after school in room 612. The advisors for the council are Ms. Kiser and Ms. Loescher.
