POLICE

The Clark County School District (CCSD), the fifth-largest in the nation, spans nearly 8,000 square miles and serves the metropolitan Las Vegas area, its surrounding communities, and rural regions. With more than 296,000 students attending 374 schools, CCSD is a vast and diverse educational network.

Given its size, employing traditional school resource officers, as seen in other areas, would have been a challenge. Instead, the District established its own police department, dedicated to ensuring a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for students.

The Clark County School District Police Department (CCSDPD) and its officers are POST Category I certified in the State of Nevada, granting them the authority to make arrests and issue traffic citations, similar to other law enforcement agencies in the valley.

The CCSDPD is comprised of 41 civilian employees and 180 sworn officers. Its leadership team consists of 22 sergeants, six lieutenants, four captains, and a chief of police.

The department is structured into three police Area Commands, with two officers assigned to each high school and additional patrol officers assigned to cover every district area. These officers are dedicated to supporting all schools, from elementary to high school, including those in more remote areas like Laughlin, Moapa, Sandy Valley, and Indian Springs.

CCSDPD provides 24/7 patrols across all District properties, ensuring the safety of students and staff.

The department also provides a range of additional police services through various bureaus and units, including Detective, Training, Traffic, K-9, Diversion & Wellness, Evidence, Records, Social Workers, and a 24/7 Dispatch Center.
