What is Professional Development Education?
Professional Development Education is a Clark County School District staff development program which provides teachers and administrators with opportunities to grow professionally and to earn renewal credit for professional licenses and/or for salary advancement.
Support staff personnel are also invited to attend classes appropriate to their areas of work and/or for professional growth.
Course content is reviewed by members of the PDE Advisory Board Committee and the Nevada Department of Education.
How can PDE credits be used?
Teachers are required to complete six continuing education credits from an accredited post-secondary institution or from an approved continuing education provider. CCSD Professional Development Education is an approved provider of classes. It is important that participants check with the Nevada Department of Education to verify a particular PDE class applies to their individual license. PDE classes taken after all provisions have been removed from a license can be used for renewal.
PDE courses can be used to earn Contact Units (CU's). One PDE credit provides 5 CU's. Participants must check with their site administrator to verify a particular PDE course applies to their Professional Growth Plan.
Out of District Teachers
Teachers who are not employed by the Clark County School District are welcome to take classes offered by PDE. It is the teacher's responsibility to check with their state/educational institution to verify the credits will be accepted.
