Three Academic Centers serve as alternative school placements (usually 9-18 weeks) for secondary students who have committed severe disciplinary infractions at a comprehensive school. Academic Centers provide required courses in a structured environment with an emphasis on assisting students to improve self-control, while enhancing social interactions and instilling life-skills. Following successful release from an Academic Center, students are returned to a comprehensive school.
