Quality, affordable health care plans for all employees
The Clark County School District aims to provide quality, affordable health care coverage to our 38,000 employees and their dependents. We negotiate with each employee association to provide either health insurance plans or contribute toward health care plans for our employees. Exploration of a districtwide health care plan
At the request of our employee associations whose members have experienced rising health care costs, CCSD has started the process of looking at the possibility of a districtwide health care plan that would include all employees in one plan with the goal of decreasing -- or at least stabilizing -- health care costs.
In February, 2014, CCSD teamed with the Clark County Education Association, which represents the District's 18,000 teachers, to issue a request for proposal to hire a consultant who would look at the feasibility of creating a districtwide health care plan, and what the first steps toward a districtwide plan would be.
The District choose the Mercer Group to issue the report, titled "Health Plan Analysis: Presentation to the CCSD Board." View the report.
On June 16, the Mercer Group presented the report to the Board of School Trustees. Please read a summary of the presentation and resulting questions.
Moving Forward
No changes will be made to employee health care plans unless they are negotiated with each employee group. To give your input on health care coverage, please contact your employee association or email the Board of School Trustees.
